Adductor Magnus, an important muscle it originates in the pelvis at a location called the Ischial tuberosity. It's this door. Attachment is in the end part of the femur which is the long portion of a leg, a very strong bone. This is a muscle that is very very important when we are doing sports and we have to perform motions such as deceleration of the abduction of the hip, flexion or internal rotation. It is a primary mover with the mid movement of the hip otherwise known as adduction, and extension, external rotation. Besides movement, it is also a stabilizer as it does stabilize the lumbo pelvic hip complex. This muscle receives its innervation or nerve information from the sciatic nerve.Yes, that famous sciatic nerve. Next post we will discuss the other adductor, the adductor brevis, stay tuned....
